Statement

My current work focuses on the constant pressure to attain unrealistic beauty standards that is placed upon women in western culture daily. The work is a journey of discovery that questions these beauty ideals. By creating repetitive patterns which reference femininity through color and form, the pieces explore the acts of hiding, exposing, and altering. These are processes women perform every day in order to change their unique bodies into the excessively sexualized, perfect female form. Referencing acts that are both mentally and physically wearing on women, and how they become an attempt make to women feel beautiful or more comfortable with themselves.
